WOTM's 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament - August 2, 2025

 

The 10th Annual WOTM Charity Golf Tournament, spearheaded by our dear friend, "Moose" Patti Sanford, and supporting The Arc of Greater Williamsburg and the Arc of Abilities day program, along with Mooseheart (children) and Moosehaven (seniors), was a huge success!  The weather on Saturday could not have been better as we gathered at Williamsburg National Golf Club for this fun event.

Patti came to know about The Arc through her friendship with Nan, which led to her getting to know Alexis and Lisa.  Shortly after the day program began in March of 2016, Patti made the decision to include The Arc and the Arc of Abilities as beneficiaries of the annual golf tournament she chaired, which is sponsored by the Women of the Moose (WOTM) with support from Williamsburg Moose Lodge 757.

We cannot thank Patti and the WOTM enough for their ongoing friendship and support!  It's hard to believe this was the 10th annual golf tournament!  Patti's hard work for the next year begins shortly after the current tournament ends, and each year it has become more and more successful.  If you know Patti, you know it's hard to say "no" to her, and that explains why there were 8 teams more this year at 32, and more sponsors than we could count!

We have watched Abigail, WOTM member Alexa's daughter and a fan of The Arc, grow up over the tournament years.  She was just a few months old at the first one in August, 2016!

We decorated the reception area with a lot of pictures thanking WOTM for 10 wonderful years!  The very long line of carts lined up for the 32 teams was impressive!  Many of the golfers have been in the tournaments from the beginning, and we thank them and all of the others for their support, too!

Alexis and Kevin greeted golfers as they came in to register, and one of their favorites was Lexi's cousin Kelly, who was playing for the APEX PT team.

We're so happy the friendship between Nan and Patti led to our friendship with Patti and WOTM, too! 

As time for the start of the tournament got closer, we gathered our AMAZING Arc of Abilities volunteer team for a group shot with Patti and Allison.  We truly appreciate them coming out early on a Saturday morning and helping us thank all of the wonderful folks participating in the tournament.  Riding the golf carts around to meet and greet the teams is a highlight of the day!

Patti and Pam greeted everyone and made welcoming remarks before Williamsburg National's Keith went over a few procedures.  After that, it was time to play golf!

It was exciting to have 3 Arc of Abilities families playing on teams today!  We thank them for their support of this special tournament, and we hope they had a good time!

Liz's dad, Greg, formed a team with his neighbor, Mike, son Stephen, and nephew Patrick.  They came in "1st place, 2nd flight," which means out of all teams who began on the back nine.  Congratulations!!

Lexi's cousins Kelly and Scott (APEX PT) were joined by APEX coworker Mike and Scott's dad, Scott, Sr.  Kelly won the Longest Drive (Women) contest for the 2nd year in a row!  Congrats, Kelly!

Team Drew consisted of Drew's dad, Andy, cousins Tyler and Jason, and family/AoA friend, Melinda.  Tyler and Melinda won raffle prizes!

Kevin and Debbie were all smiles.  This was the first time they have been able to volunteer, and they did so with enthusiasm!!

                        Alexis is a volunteer pro by now!  

It didn't take Kevin long to learn the ropes.  He and Alexis cheered for and thanked each team they met.

Sue and Carol drove Patrick and Devin around in this deluxe electric cart for 4!  Pat and Devin are also seasoned pros at volunteering, and represented The Arc with pride as they thanked the golfing teams!

Our sweet Liz is always willing to lend a helping hand, often spotting things that need to be done before we do!  She was very helpful at the tournament, working "behind the scenes" most of the morning with Shelly and Allison.   Unfortunately, she was never with Lisa or Carol, who were taking photos, so we don't have an action shot to show her service.  Still, we want to give her a big shout out for all she did to help in many ways on Saturday!  Thank you, Liz!!

We want to thank our Arc and Arc of Abilities' families for their support, too!  Seeing the signs scattered along the golf course with their names and faces gives the golfers a great visual of our amazing clients who benefit from their participation in this event.
