Two Fun Days

Even though we only had two days of AoA this week, they were packed with fun and adventure.  We started on Monday this week, and celebrated Absurdity Day by getting, well, absurd!  First, during our Dance Party, Alexis, Drew, and Kate got absurd with Kate and Kacie's costume accessories from Disney's Frozen on Ice, which they went to see over the weekend.

Next, things got a little slippery.  Have you ever tried to peel a banana with your foot??  Alexis, Kacie, and Kate agreed to try this most absurd stunt...and they were pretty good at it!

Drew cracked up when we speculated on whether or not we should then eat the bananas...

Later, what Lisa thought would be absurd, gift-wrapping their friends in toilet tissue, was taken quite seriously by our crew...go figure!

Truth be told, the "gift" of this group, Devin, found it difficult to remain still...leaving Patrick and Sam to feel like they were wrapping a puppy!  They enlisted Nan's help in tying the bow, and their gift turned out just lovely!

These goofballs thought it would be absurd to throw the toilet paper all over the place during clean up!

Another game we played was called Stone Face.  The person in the chair tries not to laugh at the absurd antics of the others.  See how long it takes Kate to break a smile!

We didn't spend the whole day being absurd, of course.  Carol, who is on vacation, left us strict orders to get 48 Power Slide Doors completed for Eaton!  We had to work as the team that we are to accomplish that task, and we did!

Our sweet Laura worked all by herself to bag the supplies we will use for a Christmas craft in a couple of weeks.

Silly or not, we got a lot done and no one seemed to mind that we had to get up early on a Monday to do it!

On Tuesday we had fun at the bowling center.  Our volunteer Pam offered to take some pictures and got these action shots!

Sam showed off the medal he won in last week's Special Olympics bowling tournament!

Pam and Laura had fun taking selfies...

After bowling we stopped by Freedom Park and checked the garden.  We noticed a lot of the color has vanished.  We look forward to returning in Spring to check on the colorful bulbs we planted!

We then headed to the walking trail and saw some pretty fall colors.  We even got a few of our friends to do the Turkey Trot!  A little pre-Thanksgiving exercise never hurt anyone!

We enjoyed our two days together but were also excited to have a few days off to spend with family and friends.  Here's wishing all of you a beautiful Thanksgiving!

We'll see everyone back on Tuesday.  This is what we have planned for next week:

Tuesday:  We have been anticipating a trip to see the movie Wonder since we enjoyed reading the book.  We would like to do that today, but the showing is at 1:05 at Regal Theater in New Town.  So, our plan is for lunch on your own at the Center and then we will head to the theater.  Since the movie won't end until about 3:00, we will need to ask for some flexibility with pickup.  Details in email!

Wednesday:  We will compare and contrast the movie and the book today.  Also, since yesterday was French Toast Day, we will celebrate today by making French Toast for lunch using a super secret recipe we coaxed from Liz's dad, Greg!😋

Thursday:  Never thought we would celebrate Mason Jar Day, but we are!  Be on the lookout for a craft that will light up your life! 😉  Lunch on your own!

Friday:  We will welcome December by updating our calendar of activities and starting on some holiday decorations.  It's also Rosa Parks Day, so we will review her place in history.  AND, it's National Pie Day, so lunch on your own, but pie for dessert!

Take care,

Lisa, Carol, and Nan
